Composer
Benjamin Vaughan is a contemporary Welsh composer currently in his fourth year of study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. His works have been premiered by ensembles such as The Arditti Quartet, Sinfonia Newydd, the RWCMD Symphony Orchestra, Abergavenny Symphony Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra and The PM Ensemble.
In his own words Ben says the following of his musical mission:
“I hope that through the use of new methods of notation and my own concepts, the world of contemporary music will be rejuvenated and, as a result, inspire a new breed of composers and experimental musicians. After all, why should music be so serious? Why should we, as composers, follow the outdated rules of those who came before us?“.
As well as composing, Ben also enjoys a variety of activities including drawing, digital art and website design, board game design, the playing of unconventional instruments and riding along on his signature push-along scooter!
