After almost 2 years of creating contemporary music experiences on stage, Sinfonia Newydd begins to focus on continuing the contemporary music experience outside of the concert hall by launching its website and SN Online, a series of online initiatives aiming to further promote the work of Wales’ young contemporary composers, including The SN Report, SN Spotlight and SN Archive.

Sinfonia Newydd produces a contemporary double-bill featuring An Exhibition at the National Museum, Cardiff, where composers used some of Wales’ world-class contemporary art as inspiration for new chamber music works, and the launch of SN Jazz – Sinfonia Newydd’s classical-jazz fusion music division

Sinfonia Newydd founder & director Toks Dada is awarded the HTV Study Award for his contribution to performance opportunities at the college

Sinfonia Newydd produced the successful Sinfonia Newydd 2011 Festival at the RWCMD featuring 40 world premiere performances of contemporary music across 8 events by 22 Welsh-based student composers. The festival also included the showcasing of contemporary art pieces inspired by a selection of contemporary music works programmed in the festival. Following the festival, Sinfonia Newydd founder & director Toks Dada is named the RWCMD Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Sinfonia Newydd began to reach out to composers outside of the RWCMD by launching a recruitment initiative in search of more Welsh-based young contemporary composers

Sinfonia Newydd evolves its contemporary music initiative into a contemporary arts initiative via the integration of scenic artists, present at An Evening of Music & Art at the Wales National Temple of Peace & Health, creating a live on-stage art piece inspired by the live music performance

Sinfonia Newydd expanded its setup to include woodwind and harp offering more contemporary music performance opportunities to performance students at the college

Sinfonia Newydd launched the Sinfonia Newydd Chamber Series with the aim of producing monthly recitals specifically to showcase contemporary chamber music by Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama composition students

Repertory by Entrepreneurial Performers Company (REPCo) was formed at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama as a funding initiative for student-led performance-based initiatives such as Sinfonia Newydd

Sinfonia Newydd gave its debut performance on Tuesday 4th May in the Sir Geraint Evans Recital Room at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama premiering the works of 5 student composers
